Four Major Winners Participate HSBC Champions

Another impressive field will take the golf course in Asia starting on November 3. The HSBC Champions event in Shanghai is a World Golf Championship event. As such, there is quite a list of names slated to participate. All four major champions will be participating in the great event. The HSBC Champions could also help determine which golfer wins the top player honor on the PGA Tour. Here is a look at some of the impressive golfers that will be in the mix at the HSBC Champions event.

The big headliners in the field are the four major winners. Charl Schwartzel, Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke, and Keegan Bradley will all be in the mix at the big event. In addition, Players Championship winner K.J. Choi and FedEx Cup winner Bill Haas are in the field. That means the winners of six of the biggest tournaments of the year are competing at the HSBC Champions. There are plenty of other great golfers in the field as well. Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Hunter Mahan, Geoff Ogilvy, David Toms, and Paul Casey are also in the field. Like the Shanghai Masters, this tournament is not short on recognizable faces. The only disappointing thing is that Luke Donald will not be in the field. He pulled out because his wife is about to give birth to a child.

The key thing about this HSBC tournament is that it actually has a big impact in the golf world. It's a WGC event and that means that some golfers have a lot to gain by playing. None might have more to gain than Keegan Bradley. The PGA Champion has a real shot at stealing the player of the year honor. Bradley already has a couple of wins on the season and also won the Grand Slam event. A win here counts toward the voting for player of the year. As a PGA player, Bradley could leapfrog Donald to win the award. That makes this tournament just a little extra relevant this year.
