TaylorMade R9 Forged Irons 3-9PS Review

When TaylorMade created their R9 and R9 TP irons, they added high-tech elements into the classical shape clubhead to increase golfers’ performance. Now, TaylorMade released their entirely new R9 Forged Irons forged with metal. TaylorMade R9 Forged used a back cavity design, distributing more weight to the edge. This characteristics plus elegant appearance and solid clubhead make R9 Forged Irons classical choose for golfers. TaylorMade R9 Forged added unique dual-layer body construction including steel casted shaft, softly forged clubhead heel and face with high forgiveness and playability, providing extremely great hand feel. The simple look and clean line of TaylorMade R9 Forged not only show the ingenuity of technicians but also become the source to give golfers confidence when aiming target. At the same time, TaylorMade R9 Forged distributed more weights to club edge to increase MOI and stability for higher forgiveness than traditional irons. R9 Forged Irons are fit for golfers of all skill.

TaylorMade R9 Forged Irons adopted progressive face thickness and top line as well as the Inverted Cone Technology (ICT). R9 Forged 3 iron to 5 iron is 1.9mm, 6 iron and 7 iron are 2.2mm, 8 iron to AW is 2.3mm and SW is 2.5mm. The use of this design is supposed to increase COR when using long and medium irons and provide comfortable contact feel when using short irons. Another feature of TaylorMade R9 Forged is the progressive clubhead top line design. R9 Forged 3 iron to 7 iron is 8.3mm while 8 iron to S iron is 6.8mm. All of the R9 Forged Irons adopted TaylorMade’s famous ICT. This technology is showed in the inner part of club face, ensuring a higher ball speed on miss-hits and stabilizing the whole face speed and distance at each swing. TaylorMade R9 Forged adopted the new face cavity design which conforms to the 2010 new rule of USGA and R&V.

TaylorMade R9 Max Irons 4-9PAS Review

TaylorMade released its entirely new R9 Max Irons with classical shape design aiming to help golfers reach top level standard and achieve ultra-far distance. TaylorMade R9 Max long irons and medium irons adopt Velocity-Control Chamber (VCC). There is a wholly closed space behind the hitting face of R9 Max 4 iron to 6 iron head, which is called VCC. This design enables the ultra-thin (2mm) large-area clubhead hitting face to hit formally even without inner support. This special design is able to surround the face back from top to bottom, providing the hitting face more flexibility and reaction at impact. Besides VCC, R9 Max uses Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) in internal club face. This technology not only enhances the ball speed on off-center hits but also precisely decreases miss-hits to provide R9 Max with keener and more stable distance control performance. Both R9 Max long and medium irons focus on clubhead edge although it is not easy to notice from look. This is because that the VCC behind the hitting face is filled with almost weightless particular foam material and silicone vibration-reduced material that are used to absorb unnecessary impact. The special foam material is sealed in a state of powder in VCC and is heated together with clubhead. Then the heat changes the material from powder to foam and fills foam into every corner of VCC. This skill enables R9 Max Irons to develop soft and pleasing sound and provide comfortable hand feel.

R9 Max short irons aim to enhance playability and hitting feel. The simple and clear classical look as well as clean clubhead front edge design help golfers aim to direction more easily and create higher accuracy. Each simple-designed clubhead of R9 Max short irons uses Deep Undercut Cavity and Broad Low-CG Sole to provide solider hits, higher backspin and faster ball stop when landing. R9 Max short irons also have a shock absorber interlayer. This interlayer is made of material with both viscosity and flexibility by 3M Company. The material can absorb both shock and noise. This is the key element for R9 Max short irons to achieve success. Besides, R9 Max short irons also adopt the Heel-Toe Weighting to enhance stability and forgiveness.
