How to Choose Irons for Yourself (One)

Since there are plenty of irons offered on market, what kind of irons is the most suitable for you? Do you know how to choose right irons for yourself? You need to consider a lot of elements when you choose irons, but there are some particularly important ones that will be covered in this article. Irons are the clubs that can not be omitted in golf game, and a typical bag usually includes a driver, a fairway wood, a putter and irons (some include wedges—sand wedge, pitching wedge, or maybe approach wedge). A standard iron set would be 3 to Pitching Wedge (PW) or 3 to Sand Wedge (SW). For example, the new released TaylorMade R11 Irons are 4-9PAS which means this R11 iron set includes 4 to 9 iron and Pitching wedge, Approach wedge, Sand wedge.

Before choosing irons, you need to know some basic specs of irons. The 3 iron has the lowest loft (around 20 degrees to the vertical) and hits the ball low and long. The pitching edge has loft of about 50 degrees and sand wedge 56 degrees which can hit the ball high but not as far. The 4 iron, 5, 6 etc have distance difference of around 12-15 yards. From this we can see the lower the iron number is, the lower the loft is, and the lower the farther ball can travel if hit correctly. But the lower the loft, the harder it is to control because of more spin. Nowadays, more and more players begin to use hybrid or utility clubs to replace hard-to-hit long irons (3 and 4 iron), so some iron set does not have 3 and 4 iron. In TaylorMade R11 Irons, there is no 3 iron. This is particularly common for ladies’ irons that are sold from 4 or 5 iron up.

What’s in Dustin Johnson’s Bag?

Dustin Hunter Johnson, usually called Dustin Johnson, is an American professional golfer. He plays on the PGA Tour currently. As one of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour, he is also one of the few players who has the ability to hit a ball over 350 yards effortless. Johnson is a young player on the PGA Tour. He experienced a breakout year in 2010 by winning the AT&T National Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the BMW Championship Additionally, because of which he got the opportunity to represent the U.S. side in the 2010 Ryder Cup. That was his first time to push his career wins total to four.

Now Dustin Johnson is using TaylorMade R11 Driver, TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood, TaylorMade R9 TP Irons, TaylorMade TP xFT Wedge and Penta TP Golf Ball. TaylorMade R11 Driver most features its 3D Tuning that any other club does not have. According to TaylorMade, the more a driver is tuned to you, the father you will hit it. The 3D Tuning is realized with three technologies—Flight Control Technology (FCT) for loft adjustment, Adjustable Sole Plate (ASP) for face angle adjustment and Movable Weight Technology (MWT) for CG location adjustment. With regard to R11 Driver, Johnson said: “I’ve never been so dialed in on the tee box. The fitting was quick and simple: three steps and the R11 were totally customized to my swing. I can’t wait to bring this driver out on Tour.”

TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood also features FCT allowing for 8 different head positions to launch the ball longer and straighter while TaylorMade R9 TP Irons feature high MOI and Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) for superior distance and the Velocity-Control Chamber (VCC) in the 2-5 irons offer enhanced consistency, ball speed and power. TaylorMade TP xFT Wedge allows you to change face through the Exchangeable Face Technology (xFT) for exceptional backspin.

TaylorMade Rescue 11

Everyone knows that a golf club, for the most part, is a straight shaft and the shaft is connected to the club head at the hosel. Club heads are designed so that when the sole (bottom) of the club is placed square to the ground the grip end of the shaft leans toward the target and the club head is behind it. When the TaylorMade Rescue 11 is set down like this the level of loft on the clubface is as the designer intended. By allowing the TaylorMade Rescue 11 to have its naturally designed forward target side lean at the address point we are using the design rather than fighting it. I call this Design Rule #1.
How often do you see players at address with the shaft positioned at right angles to the ground or even pointing backwards? Too often. With their hands in this position the loft now being presented to the ball is much higher than what is stamped on the TaylorMade Rescue 11, in other words a 5 iron is now a 7 iron.

For all right handed players, the left hand holds the grip of the club at the top of the shaft. Few of us probably think about where our left hand actually locates itself naturally and so we end up with our hand holding the TaylorMade Rescue 11 shaft vertically somewhere around our zippers.
Figure 3 shows how my arms hang naturally by my sides standing up. Figure 4 shows where they hang as I tilt forward into a golfing posture at set-up and Figure 5 shows this same position from a target line view. Note I am not putting my arms in this position; they naturally fall this way once I lean forward. Where they hang from person to person will vary. This is Design Rule #2.

If trying this at home or in the office lean forward, find where your arms hang naturally and give yourself a reference point on your thigh or trousers so you can look down and see that your hands are in the same place more often than not. Also note how far away your hands are from your body as we do not wish to either stretch outward or pull inwards from this point as we set up or swing.

Note too that I have a straight back. As I tilt forward I do not hunch over or round my shoulders, my spine stays straight. As we swing the TaylorMade Rescue 11 we pivot around our spine so the fewer curves in our spine at setup the easier this is.

Get a Hybrid or Not?

I got a question asking about whether or not she should take advantage of the new hybrid clubs. She had thought about trying them and caught some grief from her regular foursome. Apparently, her golfing partners were purists and thought she should keep hitting those 3 and 4 irons. So golfers what are your thoughts? Well, first I’ll give you mine.

I don’t know about the rest of you golf nuts, but no matter how well I’ve been hitting the golf ball, I’ve never had much consistent luck with the long irons. I can manage the 5 ok at times, but for the most part the 2, 3, 4, and 5 irons are a gamble every time I pull them out.

So a little while back I tried a
TaylorMade Rescue 11 instead of hitting my 3 iron. And I loved the way that club felt and I REALLY loved the way I hit the ball with it! I then tried one instead of my 4 iron. Before you know it I didn’t have anything higher than a 6 iron in my bag. And I was hitting the ball better than ever.
And you can use these clubs to get out of trouble in fairway traps and tall rough. The bottom line is that these clubs are just much easier to hit than the long irons. If you are anything but a low handicapper, you are probably giving up between 6 and 14 strokes a round by not hitting these hybrids!

I am a high handicapper who cannot hit fairway woods. Last year I bought two hybrids, 22-degrees and 19-degrees . The 22-degree
TaylorMade Rescue 11 has become my favorite club in the bag. The 19-degree replaces my 3-wood. It doesn’t give me quite the distance of a well-struck 3-wood, but well-struck 3-woods were few and far between for me.

I have always had trouble hitting my long irons and frankly my fairway woods are not consistent at all. I recently added a TaylorMade Rescue 11 to my bag. Instead of reaching for my 6 iron, my club of choice is my hybrid hands down. I get distance from the fairway that just wasn’t there with an iron for me. The TaylorMade Rescue 11 cuts through the tall grass so much better than an iron. I love it.

R11 Irons, Good Gifts to Your Friends

The new production of taylormade is coming, this time, taylormade has many characteristics. At long last TaylorMade finally unveiled their taylormade r11 irons. TaylorMade's latest expansion to the overwhelmingly popular r11 irons line was to create an iron set that was engineered for players who appreciate the shape and refinement of a tour-grade iron but need the help of technology to launch the ball high, straight, and long with less effort, regardless of handicap.

The taylormade r11 irons are developed following the success of the r11 driver – the industry’s first white driver with never-seen-before adjustability features. The taylormade r11 combines the forgiveness and distance found in the TaylorMade Burner 2.0 iron along with the feel and precision of the Tour Preferred (TP) irons. The R11s are designed for the player who favors a traditional blade but appreciates the near effortless ease needed to launch the ball high, long and straight.

The Inverted Cone Technology featured in the r11 irons promote faster ball speed and distance on off-center hits. Each iron in the set features the renowned technology, which was originally found in the TaylorMade r11 Irons. The Inverted Cone results in an increased surface area of the sweet spot with greater forgiveness. Overall, many golfers are impressed with TaylorMade’s newest iron set. The golf set′s have the forgiveness hackers like me appreciate and they’ve got the feel and shot shaping capabilities that you better players will enjoy.

This article is written for those who would like an open and honest detailed review into the most powerful move in golf. I am personal friends with Martin Ayers and Steve Elkington. I have been fortunate to be able to work with Martin Ayers one on one. I met him over a six months taylormade r11 fairway woods.wholesale golf clubs ago through a site known as Secret in the dirt that Steve Elkington created as a free online community for every level of golfer to be able to connect and share anything and everything golf related.

2012 Newest R11 Fairway Wood

In 2004, TaylorMade pioneered adjustability with the R7 quad, incorporating the then revolutionary Movable Weight Technology, putting CG control in the hands of golfers to promote different types of ball flight.

TaylorMade is an undisputed industry leader in golf equipment, offering a complete product line with innovative design and technology-based product for golfers of all skill levels. TaylorMade has a large presence on the PGA Tour as well as most competitive international tours. TaylorMade-Adidas golf is one of the largest golf club manufacturers in the world. It is a subsidiary of Adidas-Salomon A.G. (Also included in this stable of brands is MAXFLI and Russia,) In 1998 TaylorMade, Salomon and Adidas joined forces, this event brought together some of the most innovative companies in their fields. The taylormade r11 fairwaywood is one of the world's largest producers of sports clothing and shoes, while Salomon is known as the worldwide leader in snow skis, boots, bindings and boards, and outdoor footwear.

The newest taylormade club has come out, it is r11 fairway wood. I bought this golf set several days ago to improve my long fairways shots, plus when my driver is missing I use this club as my back up on the tee box. I like this because you can adjust the loft with Flight Control Technology and face angle with Adjustable Sole Plate technology to promote greater distance. I don't have any negative feedback at the moment. I just love the taylormade r11 products no questions ask. No comparison to any other 3 wood because the competitors are not adjustable.

The noticeable aesthetic design feature is the black clubface and this is said to make alignment easier. But didn’t we just point out that the alignment aid was on the crown? Tour and skilled players often prefer to use the face of the driver for alignment and the black finish seems to make this easier.

R11 Driver, Best Golf Club

The TaylorMade R11 Driver is the latest and greatest from the makers of the No.1 driver in golf. It has new technology, like an adjustable sole that can adjust the face angle of the club, as well as the ability to adjust the launch angle, making it a truly adjustable driver. This club promotes up to 100 yards of side-to-side trajectory change and 1,000 RPM backspin change, giving you consistent power and distance. The new aerodynamic shape promotes faster club head speed for more distance, 6 yards longer than the R9 Supertri. The white non-glare crown and black clubface (which provides easy alignment) will improve your game and that sleek white finish will make you the center of attention on the course and in the clubhouse.

There are some features of this golf set; they are in the following. The Introduction of Adjustable Sole Plate (ASP) Technology allows players the ability to adjust the face angle independently of the loft, which is controlled by Flight Control Technology (FCT). The ASP sole plate provides changes less than to more than 2°of face angle (neutral/square, 2° open, 2° closed). You can create three lofts with the same face angle, or you can further accentuate a face angle or counter a negative face angle. Plus, the combination of ASP and FCT effectively doubles the range of face angle for the club for less than 2° to more than 4°.

Except for the features of this golf set, special design is also the main part of this golf set. Altogether, the combination of ASP, FCT and MWT gives golfers 48 methods to set up the TaylorMade R11 Driver to enhance up to 100 yards of side-to-side trajectory adjustment, the most of any driver in existence. Combining full FCT and MWT settings promotes a launch-condition range of 2° launch angle and 1,000 RPM. The FCT system is extremely sleek and streamlined, leading to less mass and also a lower clubhead CG location when compared with hosel adjustability systems in competitive drivers..

The TaylorMade R11 driver is made with a new, modern-classical clubhead appearance intended to suit the eye of better players, when still providing forgiveness and confidence for common players. The shape is more contemporary appearance than traditional drivers, and slightly triangular to produce a modern yet classical address silhouette. The triangular appearance creates more inertia and a deeper back CG position for greater stability and forgiveness.

R11 Driver, Golfers’ Favorite

In 1998 TaylorMade, Salomon and Adidas joined forces, this event brought together some of the most innovative companies in their fields. The Adidas Group is one of the world's largest producers of sports clothing and shoes, while Salomon is known as the worldwide leader in snow skis, boots, bindings and boards, and outdoor footwear. Now, taylormade has become a leading manufacture in the golf world.

Anyway, TaylorMade R11 driver at the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show and it quickly gained popularity among professional and amateur golfers alike. The most distinguishing feature of the R11 (and its sister driver, the Burner Superfast 2.0) is the milky white crown. Sure, TaylorMade was not the first equipment company to offer a white driver, but it’s the first company (to my knowledge) that made it successful.

Like many of TaylorMade’s products, the R11 seemed to polarize the golf world with its white matte finish. You either loved the look of it or you hated it. Not many people I spoke to about the R11 were neutral about it. I am one of those who liked the look of the white crown because I think white is classy and distinguished (I wore a white tuxedo to my senior prom). I will say though, the problem with the white finish is it stains easier. I’m not quite sure how it happened, but I managed to get grass stains on the top of the driver during my testing.

TaylorMade R7 CGB Max Series Review

I’ve used TaylorMade R7 CGB Max Series for a long time and they helped me a lot in my game. They are game improving and confidence boosting. They are made for the fastest speed, longest distance and highest forgiveness and accuracy. Now let me share my opinions with you here.

TaylorMade R7 CGB Max line includes R7 CGB Max driver, fairway wood, irons and rescue. They have their own characteristics but share most of the same features. Especially the driver and fairway wood share many technologies. Both of them adopt TaylorMade’s famous Movable Weight Technology (MWT). The use of this technology provides me much convenience. There are three weights provided. R7 CGB Max driver provides change in trajectory of up to 30 yards while the fairway wood can promote change in trajectory of up to 22 yards from side to side. They share the same head shape and back-moved center of gravity (CG). The triangular-shaped clubhead along with back CG gives me fast initial ball speed which leads to increased distance, and the head shape makes it easy for me to launch my ball. I’m able to hit at least 20 yards more with them. Another technology is called SuperFast technology. It is for fast speed of course. The speed is enhanced by decreasing the whole weight of clubs. Both of the driver and fairway wood have long and lightweight shaft for more speed and strength. Their MOI is also very high, and you can hit far and straight shots with them. The R7 CGB Max hybrid also features triangular shape head, superfast technology and high MOI.

It is not enough. Another technology called Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) has been used in the driver and irons. This technology enlarges COR zone for faster speed and more distance on miss-hits. R7 CGB Max irons faces are 100% CNC-milled, combined with the 455 stainless steel offering the highest effective COR. There are four tungsten cartridges positioned at heel and toe which delivers a high MOI and forgiveness. I can achieve fast speed even on miss-hits. It feels so great! If you want to know more about TaylorMade R7 CGB Max Series, just have a try!

Four Major Winners Participate HSBC Champions

Another impressive field will take the golf course in Asia starting on November 3. The HSBC Champions event in Shanghai is a World Golf Championship event. As such, there is quite a list of names slated to participate. All four major champions will be participating in the great event. The HSBC Champions could also help determine which golfer wins the top player honor on the PGA Tour. Here is a look at some of the impressive golfers that will be in the mix at the HSBC Champions event.

The big headliners in the field are the four major winners. Charl Schwartzel, Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke, and Keegan Bradley will all be in the mix at the big event. In addition, Players Championship winner K.J. Choi and FedEx Cup winner Bill Haas are in the field. That means the winners of six of the biggest tournaments of the year are competing at the HSBC Champions. There are plenty of other great golfers in the field as well. Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Hunter Mahan, Geoff Ogilvy, David Toms, and Paul Casey are also in the field. Like the Shanghai Masters, this tournament is not short on recognizable faces. The only disappointing thing is that Luke Donald will not be in the field. He pulled out because his wife is about to give birth to a child.

The key thing about this HSBC tournament is that it actually has a big impact in the golf world. It's a WGC event and that means that some golfers have a lot to gain by playing. None might have more to gain than Keegan Bradley. The PGA Champion has a real shot at stealing the player of the year honor. Bradley already has a couple of wins on the season and also won the Grand Slam event. A win here counts toward the voting for player of the year. As a PGA player, Bradley could leapfrog Donald to win the award. That makes this tournament just a little extra relevant this year.

What’s in Rory McIlroy’s bag: Titleist 910D2 Driver (8.5*, Fujikura Rombax 7V05 shaft; Titleist 906F2 (13.5* with True Temper Project X X7A3 shaft, 18* with Fujikura ZCom Pro 95 shaft); Titleist MB 710 Irons 3-9PS with Project X 6.5 shafts; Titleist Vokey Design (48°, 54°, 60°) with Project X 6.5 shafts; Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport GSS prototype.

What’s in Darren Clarke’s bag: TaylorMade R11 Driver (9*, Project X 8A4 shaft); TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood (13*, Project X 8A4 shaft); TaylorMade Rescue TP (19°) with a Project X HA1 shaft; TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Irons (4-PW) with Project X Monaco prototype shafts; TaylorMade TP w/xFT (50°, 54°, 60°) with Project X Monaco prototype shafts; Scotty Cameron for Titleist Tour Rat prototype Putter.

R11 Irons 4-9PAS, Coming Out

The one-piece stainless steel cast heads boast a thin, lightweight face design like the Burner 2.0. The weight removed from the clubface has been shifted low and back to create a higher launch angle, faster ball speed, increased distance and more forgiveness. The result is comparable launch, ball flight and length to the Burner 2.0, as well as 15-yard distance gaps between clubs. Taylormade Company testing with low handicappers indicates that the R11 and Burner 2.0 4-irons produce identical carry distance; the R11 6-iron is 1 yard shorter than Burner 2.0.

Inspired by r11, the tyalormade r11 irons 4-9pas has some special features. The first one is the one-piece stainless steel cast heads for TaylorMade R11 irons boast a thin, lightweight face design like the Burner 2.0, and then, the weight removed from the clubface has been shifted low and back to create a higher launch angle, faster ball speed, increased distance and more forgiveness. Thirdly, the result is comparable launch, ball flight and length to the Burner 2.0, as well as 15-yard distance gaps between clubs. At last, 4-9PAS means 4 iron to 9 irons with pitching wedge, approach wedge and sand wedge, totally 9 clubs.

At long last TaylorMade finally unveiled their TaylorMade R11 irons. TaylorMade's latest expansion to the overwhelmingly popular R11 line was to create an iron set that was engineered for players who appreciate the shape and refinement of a tour-grade iron but need the help of technology to launch the ball high, straight, and long with less effort, regardless of handicap. The TaylorMade R11 irons are definitely not blades or a set of tour only clubs. Designed with more forgiveness in mind they appeal to a much larger audience.

Once I bought this golf set, at first, I don’t think it will be a good friend of my, but after using several times, I find my ball skills have improved so much, I can hit the ball higher and faster, so I decided to buy another one. Maybe it is also a cool gift to my husband, I am sure he will love the golf set.

About R11

It looks like Taylor Made has taken a page out of Apple’s playbook once again (the first being Mark King’s Steve Jobs-like announcement of the R11 irons). Rather than introducing the R13, we’ll first see the R11S. The R11S will be released February 3rd, 2012.

Taylormade in 2012 is all about tuning and speed.  Improved aerodynamics, hotter faces, improved ball speed.

The flagship of TMAG (Taylormade Adidas Golf) is the R11 line.  The R11 was the most successful launch in the modern golf era.  The new R11s Driver and fairway metals is a step up from its predecessor, which from all the tour success, (Luke Donald, Darren Clarke) and record sales is a pretty difficult feat.

TMAG is very much the leader is custom driver and woods fitting, evident by the new R11S with it's added adjustability, innovative crown design and improved aerodynamics.

At 460cc, the R11S is similar to the original R11, the new R11S features a flat-white crown color and black PVD face to improve alignment and accuracy off the tee. TMAG says the white crown color makes it appear even larger (2%) and adds an advantage given that TaylorMade testing indicates that the majority of golfers gain confidence at address from a head that appears large relative to the ball.
R11S will be 460cc – 20cc more than the original. Generally speaking, more cc leads to more forgiveness.
R11S will have an updated sole plate – The original R11 could be adjusted to sit 3 ways (neutral, open, and closed). R11S will add two new options (slightly open, slightly closed)

Should you take a look at the R11S?
Based on the strength of the original, R11S will certainly be worth a look. The slightly larger clubhead will offer more forgiveness for some players. And the extra face angle positions may attract a few control freaks.
The R11S includes two Movable Weight Technology cartridges weighing 10g and 1g. They can be interchanged to create a draw bias or neutral ball flight. Changing the weights alters the centre of gravity by 4mm from heel to toe promoting up to 20 yards of side-to-side bias.
The TaylorMade R11S Driver is further enchanced by TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology that expands the COR zone, or the portion of the club that delivers faster ball speeds. The R11S measures 45.75" and comes equipped with an Aldila RIP Phenom 60g shaft.

R11s Driver

This Wednesday I was able to attend a TaylorMade media day event yesterday at the La Costa Resort.  Want to thank all the great TMAG staffers (Christa, Michael, Dave and Mike) for having me and sharing this exciting line of prodcuts.  I was even able to play a round with Tom Kroll, the global product lines manager for woods.

“The R11S is a golfer’s dream come true; it’s the realisation of every ounce of innovation, adjustability, and performance we could package in a bigger, more aerodynamic, white clubhead,” said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade's Executive Vice President.

“It would have been easy for our product creation team to rest on the laurels of the original R11 driver, the most successful product we’ve ever created. Instead, we’re delivering golfers yet another significant advancement in adjustability and performance."
Similar to its predecessor, the R11, the new R11S features a contrasting black face which golfers claim improves their alignment and accuracy off the tee and confidence at address - the clubhead appearing large compared to the ball. It's triangular shape also helps provide a higher launch, more forgiving trajectory.
ASP technology - a raised five-point plate which can be rotated and secured - allows the golfer to adjust face angle independent of loft setting which means the face angle can be adjusted independently to the loft and vice versa - neutral, slightly open, open, slightly closed and closed.
In addition the combination of Flight Control Technology and moveable weights enables the golfer to adjust the loft and face angles for up to approximately 60 yards side-to-side trajectory as well as the swing weight.
There are also two weight ports in the R11S—one in the heel and one in the toe—which can hold the one- and the 10-gram weights that come with the driver. Positioning the 10-gram weight in the heel encourages a draw while screwing it into the toe should help you hit a fade.

There are 80 different ways you can set up the R11S, and according to TaylorMade, the club offers 140 yards of left-and-right adjustability.

"All in all, the package is going to give the golfer a little higher launch and less spin than the original R11, which should translate to more distance," says Olsavsky.
Specs
Grip: TM FCT. Lofts: 9°, 10.5°, 12° in right-handed; 9° and 10.5° in left-handed. Street price: $399.
The R11S TP is equipped with an Aldila RIP Phenom TP 65 (X, S, R) 25 additional TP shaft choices are also available. Grip: TM FCT. Lofts: 9°, 10.5° in right-handed; 9° and 10.5° in left-handed.
Street price: $499.

The R11S Driver will be available in early February

R11S is about Tuning and Speed

TaylorMade believes it has taken adjustable technology to the next level with the introduction in February of the all-white driver, a Tour Preferred (TP) version of which is currently in the hands of its staff players including Sergio Garcia.

Last season's R11 featured a 440-cc head, but the R11S hits the USGA's maximum legal size, 460cc. TaylorMade says the bigger head combined with better aerodynamics make the Taylormade R11S Driver a little longer than the R11, and it has a slightly-larger sweet spot. The club should also do a better job of helping golfers maintain ball speed on mishits.

While last season's R11 had a red adjustable plate on the sole that allowed golfers to choose from three face angles, the Taylormade R11S Driver has five settings: Neutral, Open, Closed, Slightly Open (Open+), and Slightly (Closed+).

The adjustable sleeve that connects the shaft to the head can be set in a Neutral, Higher or Lower setting. The Higher setting adds 1.5° of loft (transforming a 9° driver into a 10.5° driver) while the Lower setting decreases loft by 1.5°.

"In many cases a golfer may not be able to see that much of a difference with the smaller sleeve [used on the R11], but the larger sleeve is going to give them the ability to dial in that launch condition to be exact without changing the spin rate," says Tom Olsavsky, TaylorMade's senior director of product creation.
I was very impressed with the Taylormade R11S Driver and hit it well.  What's great was that I was able to take the shaft in my current R11 (Graphite Design ADI 6) and put it into the Taylormade R11S Driver when I played yesterday.  I was really able to compare both heads, using the shaft I've been fitted for.

What's also cool is that two completely opposite golfers can play the same head.   Let's say a 9*, my specs might be 9* at 3* open and another golfer could tune the driver to be12* at 3* closed, same club head!

With this technology everyone should take the time and figure out what they need and customize the driver to their games.  Everything you need, face angle, loft, swing weight, shaft, lie angle is yours to be tuned to your specs.

The 460cc Taylormade R11S Driver - available in three lofts, 9-, 10.5- and 12-degrees for right-handers - features a 3-degree Flight Control Technology (FCT) sleeve and annew 5-way adjustable sole plate (ASP) creating a golfer's preferred set-up as they look down at the club at address. Combined with TaylorMade’s Movable Weight Technology (MWT), the R11S driver can be tuned for up to 80 separate launch settings.

TaylorMade have taken adjustability to a new level with the launch of the new Taylormade R11S driver, which features an updated sole plate for even more game improvement.
Based on the solid foundations of the existing R11 driver, the new model’s Adjustable Sole Plate adds another two settings to the club so golfers can now change the face angle of the TaylorMade R11S driver to either a neutral, slightly open, open, closed, or slightly closed position.
The loft of the club can also be altered by adjusting the sleeve through TaylorMade’s Flight Control Technology – what makes the R11S so impressive is that the loft and face angle can be adjusted independently, and now golfers can change the loft up to 1.5° up or 1.5° down.
The Taylormade R11S driver also features TaylorMade’s Movable Weight Technology – golfers can adjust the weights in the heel and toe to help promote either a draw or a fade.
As you can see, it’s white, but we’ve got the full story in the next issue of Taylormade R11S driver, which goes on sale on December 29.

 Features
- The sole of the club is designed for better surface transfers because TMAG says that on the downswing air flow travels from the heel to toe.  Making this area more aerodynamic will improve speed.  The transition from face to crown has also been tweaked for better flow.

-Like every TaylorMade driver since the R500 Series (launched in 2002), the Taylormade R11S driver incorporates TaylorMade’s Inverted Cone clubface technology, which dramatically expands the COR zone, which is the portion of the clubface that delivers maximum ball speed.

- Thick, Thin Crown- a new casting process allows the crown to be more responsive and able to move weight where it can be used for to increase ball speed.

- The CG is moved further apart and closer to the face to improve ball speed

Latest R11S Driver is Released

Lots of companies make adjustable drivers, but no company has embraced adjustability more than TaylorMade.

Since the 2004 release of the r7, a black driver trimmed in yellow and red, the company's flagship driver has always been adjustable. For 2012, that trend continues with the release of the white-crowned R11S on Feb. 3.

The Taylormade R11S Driver is not radically different from last season's top-of-the-line TaylorMade model, the R11, but there are a few evolutionary differences.
A new-and-improved version of the year's most popular driver is set to be released in February.

The R11S replaces TaylorMade's innovative R11 driver and betters it by offering more adjustability, distance, and forgiveness.

The club keeps its striking white crown but has been enlarged to the limit of the rules (from 440 to 460cc) and aerodynamically engineered for more swing speed without additional effort.

The Flight Control Technology sleeve (FCT) and Adjustable Sole Plate (ASP) remain, too, but have been improved to offer more adjustability.

The FCT now gives you eight loft and lie combinations that affect spin and launch, while the ASP has two additional settings, allowing users to open and close the face angle by up to 6°.
Combined with Moveable Weight Technology (MWT), which lets you adjust the head's centre of gravity to promote draw or fade bias, the club offers 80 different configurations. This makes it the most adjustable driver ever made and allows you to fine-tune your flight in a fitting, or simply avoid hitting your bad shot.
“The R11S is a golfer’s dream come true; it’s the realisation of every ounce of innovation, adjustability, and performance we could package in a bigger, more aerodynamic, white club head,” said Sean Toulon, executive vice president. “With the proper fitting, we know golfers of all skill levels will be longer and straighter off the tee.”
The R11S (£349) measures 45.75” and is equipped with a 60-gram Aldila RIP Phenom 60 shaft (X, S, R and M flexes), which weighs 60 grams and which features a medium-firm tip profile.  Left-handed lofted are nine and 10.5 degrees.
